In 1947, he started working with Foto Diana and met first time with photography. He made copies of the postcards of the famous names of that time. In 1949-50, he started to work independently. He worked as a freelance photographer for newspapers, took photos at all kind of fairs, festivals and celebrations. In 1953, he opened his own photography studio in Nicosia under the name of Foto Şık. He opened his first and only photograph exhibition at Atatürk Cultural Centre (AKM) on 19-22 February 1991 with Altay Sayıl. He got married in 1972 and has 2 children.
