He was born on September 6, 1984 in the Köşklüçiftlik district of Nicosia. He completed his elementary school education at Şehit Ertuğrul Elementary School, then continued his secondary school Nicosia Fine Arts Secondary School. During his education at the Nicosia Fine Arts Secondary School, he won the first prize at Deniz Bank Painting Contests for two consecutive years. He continued his high school education at Anadolu Fine Arts High School in Ankara, Turkey. During this period, his paintings took place in the group exhibition organized by Ankara Chamber of Commerce. Selçuk Yalovalı continued his education in Ankara. In 2006, he graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Art Teaching. In 2008, he started to work as an art teacher for the Near East Elementary School. He is still continuing to work for the same school.

Selçuk Yalovalı, who continued his art works during his education and working life, won an award in a painting contest on bi-communal Human Rights organized by the Cyprus Turkish Human Rights Foundation in 2010.
