The 370th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts will be held on Wednesday, February 24, at the Near East University Hospital Exhibition Hall. The “Fine Arts February Exhibition”, which will bring together 40 artworks of 20 award-winning artists, is a versatile group exhibition consisting of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, printmaking and photography.

Curated by Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Vice Dean and Günsel Art Museum Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergun, the exhibition will be open to visitors until the end of the month.

Referring to the ongoing discussions about whether art is realized for sake of society or for sake of art, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün says that the words of the artist Ayla Algan "Art is actually for hard times" are the winners of this discussion. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün says, "With the start of the normalization process, life is revived, we can see those who work in the art fields as mediators of social improvement."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün, regarding the exhibition exclusively prepared for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, said: “Considering the necessity of the healing and transformative power of the art and art environment, which already has a fragile structure, we have made preparations for our exhibition for February in order to be visible and reach the masses, by realizing our artistic productions under the psychology of uncertainty and constraint created by the pandemic.”
