Zhusup Mataev was born in town of Red-Ozgorus on 21 February 1956. Between 1973 – 1978, he studied at Frunze Art School. In 1992, he became a member of the Kyrgyz Artists Union. He designed the Kyrgyzstan State Flag in 1992 and studied at Kyrgyz Arabayev Teacher’s University between 2001- 2004. He participated in various joint exhibitions throughout his art life. Many of his works take place in private and official collections in his country and abroad. The artist held 2 personal exhibitions in 2008 and 2012.
