Having being pictured again with oil and watercolor paint effects, 100 artworks that selected from the photo archive that created by the NEU Lecturer Ediz Tuncel in 20 years met with the art-lovers at the Photo-Painting Exhibition titled “Every Nook and Cranny of North Cyprus”. The exhibition which reflects the natural, cultural and historical values of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and of the Turkish Cypriot community from Karpasia to Yesilirmak (Limnitis) was opened by Erkut Şahalı, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the opening ceremony of the exhibition was realized at the Exhibition Hall of Near East College with the participation of Erkut Şahali, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Suat Günsel, the Founding Rector of Near East University, Associate Professor İrfan Günsel, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, vice rectors, deans, faculty members, guest artists from Ukraine and guests.

The opening remarks of the exhibition were respectively delivered by vice Rector Professor Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu, Photography artist Ediz Tuncel and the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Erkut Şahali.

Having being organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts with the aim of bringing a different perspective to the visual arts by combining painting and photography arts, the exhibition reflects the natural, cultural and historical values of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkish Cypriot people from Karpasia to Yesilirmak (Limnitis).

Indicating that the artwork at the exhibition reflect the natural, cultural and historical values of North Cyprus through 100 photo-paintings created by the photography artist Ediz Tuncel, Professor Sadıkoğlu stated that the artwork were perceived as a photo when looked at from a distance and as a painting when looked at from a close distance.

Stating that a society primarily needed to attach importance on its essence, Professor Sadıkoğlu underlined that the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel, who is bound to his country with great devotion and deep love, had mobilized all possibilities to open new horizons for the country. "Through the Founding Rector Dr. Günsel's initiative, Near East University continues to open new horizons for the country by achieving significant breakthroughs in the fields of education, science, innovation, health, sports, culture and arts. Worldwide events in the fields of education, science, health and sports have been realized and outstanding accomplishments achieved so far. Now, with the initiative of the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel, Near East University has rolled up her sleeves for new breakthroughs in the field of culture and arts. In this sense, Near East University has taken concrete steps and brought the Cyprus Museums of Modern Arts into a being. The Museum has exhibited 6 thousand artworks so far.

With a firm belief that the future of a society is closely associated with the level of education, the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel has exerted great sacrifices and created outstanding works in the field of education, health, culture and science". Dr. Suat Günsel boasts of the things that he hasn't done rather than the things that he has done so far. Dr. Suat Günsel has saved all his might, ideas and energy to his country by rejecting all offers inviting him to open educational institution and hospital in Turkey and different countries of the world. He rejected to extend his power to any other country over the globe and this is a clear indicator of his great devotion and deep love for his country and its people” said he.

Highlighting the importance and necessity of conveying the historical, cultural and artistic values of our country to the next generations, Professor Sadıkoğlu ended his remarks by stating that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts would be a learning center where our cultural and artistic heritage came alive.

Underlining that they prepared an exhibition aimed at combining two close branches of visual arts, painting and photograph, the photography artist Assistant Professor Ediz Tuncel state that “Every Nook and Cranny of North Cyprus Photo-Painting Exhibition” consisted of photographs selected from his photo archive. "100 photos reflecting the natural, cultural and historical values of North Cyprus and Turkish Cypriot people from Karpasia to Yesilirmak (Limnitis) were selected from my photo archive, which consisted photos taken within 20 years. Having been re-pictured with oil and watercolor paint effects, 100 photo-paintings, which are perceived as photos when looked at from a distance and as paintings when looked at closely. will be displayed at the exhibition for the art lovers" noted he.

Drawing attention to the significant steps taken towards being an outstanding art center in the region, Ediz Tuncel stated that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts continued to carry out unique and unmatched cultural and artistic events that haven't been witnessed throughout the 450 year-old history of Turkish Cypriots. “The Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts continues to hold multidimensional art exhibitions to our country and to our people, aiming to draw attention to a very important social deficiency and to provide the country and society with an invaluable collection of artworks” noted he.

Expressing that artists had carried out individual works on painting, sculpture and photography and solo or group exhibitions so far, Tuncel pointed out the crucial role of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts in turning these individual works into workshops. He underlined that Near East University had realized great breakthroughs concerning education, science, innovation, health, sports, culture and art and left its mark as a leading university on many accomplishments.

Expressing that the artists created artworks and presented them to the taste of public, Tuncel stated that appreciation was the expectation of all artists. However, certain processes should be completed to be considered eligible for appreciation. Every artist experience a process of apprenticeship before having been qualified as a master artist. It is an important point to expect appreciation when (s)he begins to create his artworks. This hasn't been realized in our society till the 21st century. However, this phenomenon began to develop with Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. Thousands of artworks created by hundreds of artists have been presented to the appreciation of the art-lovers through exhibitions propelled by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts" said he.

Expressing that his “Every Nook and Cranny of North Cyprus Photo-Painting Exhibition” was the first exhibition of its kind that exhibited by the Museum, Ediz Tuncel ended his remarks by saying that it was a great pride for him.

Minister Erkut Şahali: "The Exhibition, which is the Event of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, will be an Inheritance for the Country’s History..."
Stating that he was following the art activities carried out by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Erkut Şahali noted that the artworks at the exhibition that consisted of 100 pieces created by using a different technique would be inherited to the history and the future of the country.

Expressing that the exhibition was a special one as it reflects photos taken by capturing moments that couldn't be experienced and which couldn't be seen again in many points of country, Minister Şahali stated that the exhibition would reflect all natural, historical and cultural characteristics of the geography in which we live in.

Emphasizing the importance of the mission of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the Minister Şahali said that the exhibiting, explaining and making a story of the works created within the scope of museum discipline were the key factors giving the voice of the societies to the future and other societies.

"I follow the efforts exerted by Near East University with appreciation and interest. The commitment to continuity is clearly visible. This needs to be embraced. I am happy to be a part of this stakeholder" said he and ended his remarks.

Following the speeches, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Erkut Şahali presented a certification of appreciation to the photograph artist Ediz Tuncel. Then, the ribbon was cut and the exhibition was opened. The exhibition, which features the natural, cultural and historical values of our country and of the Turkish Cypriot community through a different perspective, will be displayed from10.00 to 12.00 for two weeks at the Exhibition Hall of Near East College.
