It was announced that the exhibition of 41 art pieces exclusively created for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts by 9 Kazakh artists was recently opened by the Minister of Economy and Energy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Hasan Taçoy.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the opening ceremony of the exhibition was held at the exhibition hall of İrfan Günsel Congress Centre, to which Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy, Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel, academicians, artists and guests attended.

It was revealed that Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, on behalf of the Kazakh artists Umurali Ismailov and Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy each made a speech.

World Arts is brought together…
Making the opening speech of the exhibition, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that artists from different countries around the world is brought together due to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts added that Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts united a unique world of art that provides freedom in creativity in this geography.

In addition to the above, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ expressed that that day they were about to open the 91st exhibition on campus. Furthermore, he explained that the 41 art pieces created by 9 Kazakh artists reflected the Kazakh culture, as well as abstract and philosophic expressions.

Moreover, he stressed that the Near East University was a location where science is produced at its different research centres and laboratories. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ further added that within the last three years, the Near East University funded 380 research projects; 120 of which have been completed and the remaining 260 is still ongoing.

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ: “Near East University is joining the CERN Research Team…”
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ proudly stated that they, as the Near East University, also included two research group leaders working on CERN research projects into the academic personnel of the Near East University; and in fact, they were planning to include a third one. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ stated that as part of the support provided by Scientific Research Projects (BAP), a doctorate student will be taking part in a research group in CERN in October, 2019.

Speaking on behalf of the Kazakh artists, Umurali Ismailov stated that at the helm of the Founding Rector of the Near East University, Dr. Suat Günsel, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts is a project that is being realised in Northern Cyprus and that it involved a big mission. By this way, the voice, culture and art of the Turkic people began to be heard internationally through the Near East University. On behalf of the Kazakh artists, he expressed great gratitude to Dr. Suat Günsel for enabling them to take part in such an important project. He ended his words by stating that they were rather proud and happy to have found the opportunity to leave their mark at the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.

Bakan Taçoy: “A vision on art is being realised, a vision that has not been achieved for centuries…”
Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy pointed out that more than 20 thousand art pieces are to be included in the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which is to be opened on 15th November 2020. He said that this great goal is one that no one has ever achieved for centuries.

He said: “In particular, the setting of such a goal related to art was perhaps an event that came across the Renaissance period centuries ago. Beyond that, there is no other person, institution or organization carrying out such a service except the Near East University. A very good vision is being realized and soon it will come to a point that will honour us all in the best and the most beautiful way.”
Minister of Economy and Energy emphasised the necessity to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, not only in political platforms, but also in education, science, art and culture. In this regard, he stressed that the Near East University was playing a significant role.

Hasan Taçoy emphasised that it made everyone proud to see a doctorate student take part in a CERN research project and specially to know that this student at Near East University. In fact, rather exciting to know that this Near East University student is actually involved in a project that is closely followed by many in the world.

In addition to the above, Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy expressed that he expected the work that Near East University conducts to be taken even further and that he wished success in the effort and excitement of achieving the great goals set.
