Art pieces, which have been uniquely created for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, by Kazakh Artist Rakhat Saparalieva to be exhibited in his personal exhibition, titled as “My Own Renaissance”, has been opened by the Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy, Founding Rector of the Near East University Dr. Suat İ.Günsel, Heads of Institutes, academic staff, artists and guests attended the opening ceremony of the aforementioned personal exhibition.
It was pointed out that Founding Chair of the Managing Board of the Cyprus Turkish National Museum and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, Kazakh artist Rakhat Saparaliyeva, whose personal exhibition was to be opened, and Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy each made a speech at the opening ceremony.
Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul: “Art is a part of human life”
In his speech, Founding Chair of the Managing Board of the Cyprus Turkish National Museum and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul and expressed that people depicted peoples` lives, what is happening around them, their beliefs, their stories in various ways through art. In fact, he stated that artistic activities have been going on since the early ages and they showed that art is a part of human life.
Prof.Dr Özkul further said that many artists who set out from Pablo Picasso’s words “I paint objects as I think them, not as I think them” and therefore hid their stories in their works and depicted the objects they see around them based on the reflections in their minds.
Prof. Dr. Özkul: “Art lover tries to find a piece of himself in the works”
Prof.Dr. Özkul stated that art lovers, while looking at the works of the artists, look for their own stories rather than the stories hidden by the artists. Thus, Prof.Dr. Özkul said that many art lovers spend hours in front of a work of art trying to find a piece of themselves in the artwork.
“We are one step closer to seeing Günsel on the road in all its glory”
Prof.Dr. Özkul said: “As the Near East University, we will add another new service to the Turkish Cypriot community as we did in many fields such as education, science, health, technology and art very soon. As a result of the project of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, where he chaired the R & D works, the first local and national electrical automobile Günsel was produced and its model was introduced in 2016. Now, I would like to proudly announce that B9, which is the first model designed by Turkish engineers and whose prototype production is completed, will be introduced on Thursday, February 20. Thus, we will be one step closer to seeing Günsel, which is a work of art, in all its glory on the roads.”
“Günsel Art Museum will meet art lovers on February 20”
“In the near future, with the addition of a new one to our existing museums, it will open its doors to art lovers in Nicosia Dereboyu region for the first time, beyond the Near East University campus. Furthermore, Günsel Art Museum, a product of Günsel's contribution to the arts and culture, the first National and domestic electric car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will meet art lovers on 20 February. Giving importance to the integrity of the society, Günsel family will mediate the sharing of the cultural identity of Cyprus with the national and international art environment with the museum established. Nearly 700 works of oil and acrylic paintings, paintings made with various printing techniques, sculptures and ceramic works by award-winning artists of Cyprus and the Turkish World will be exhibited in the museum.”
He further said that they were exhibiting the Kazakh artist Rakhat Saparaliyeva’s art pieces exclusively created for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts to the appreciation of art-lovers. His personal exhibition titled as “My Own Renaiisance” reveals Kazakh culture through modern figures. He stressed that the Kazak artist used different modern approaches such as figurative abstraction, surrealist, and realist approach.
Rakhat Saparalieva : “I congratulate all the artists for realizing this great project idea perfectly.”
Kazakh artist Rakhat Saparalieva began his speech by greeting the protocol and the guests. He thanked everyone for being at his personal exhibition “My Own Renaissance”. He then expressed special thanks to Dr. Suat Günsel. He congratulated all the artists for not leaving the idea of this great project at a low level and realizing it perfectly.
Rakhat Saparalieva: “Here I felt like a child looking all around with curiosity”
Rakhat Saparalieva underlined that this project is a wonderful and unique project. Additionally, he said that on behalf of the artists, he got a responsibility and by using old knowledge, created something new for the experiment. Furthermore, he likened himself to a child wondering there with great curiosity.
Rakhat Saparalieva: “I reinvented myself”
Saparalieva said: “I will never forget these days because I reinvented myself. Here, artists are always ready to find something new in their inner world and share something new with the audience. In addition to the Mediterranean, I was able to see deep colors such as the sea, large canvases like the sea and beautiful works such as the sea. And I'm just a drop in this sea. Creating was very enjoyable and it was not difficult to chat even in this atmosphere without speaking a language. I take as many smiles, emotions and beautiful moments with myself as the sea.”
Taçoy: “Anyone can create their own renaissance differently”
Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy said: “When I received the invitation, "My Renaissance" was written on it. For a moment, I thought what my Renaissance could be. The Kazakh artists expressed what his renaissance was-stating that he was as excited as a child; trying to make us comprehend his feelings. For us, the word Renaissance may be works used in the transformation of art from the past. When I say My Renaissance, everyone can create their own renaissance differently, but if we think about it for a country and speak for a country, things will be different there. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which has come up to date with the pressure of the world, is going through many reforms in order to get rid of isolations and embargoes and it is opening reforms in order to catch up with the agenda and become a country that acts with the world language. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is moving to reach the great works and great changes, in other words, the Renaissance itself.
Minister Hasan Taçoy:“ One of the most reformist movements today is electric vehicles”
“Very soon another important step will be considering how the closed Maras region can be turned into another value. There are of course economic aspects in this `renaissance`. Bringing together the structures that will come from Maras means that tourism will move forward; such that along with the development of this sector, it will be a complete revolution with one of the most reformist movements of our time- with the abandonment of fossil fuels, there will be a move to environmentally friendly and reliable vehicles like electric cars. As my teacher says, a man will succeed in whatever he tries to do, and valuable artists will definitely be involved in the next generation science, research, and education. Along with art, we have become a society that enjoys these days and looks to the future with these beauties that open our horizons and cause us to be represented everywhere. I would like to express gratitude to everyone involved!”
The artist was presented a Silver Ring Honour Award, and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held
A Silver Key Honour Award was presented to the Kazakh artist Rakhat Saparalieva by the Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy and this was followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. It was announced that the exhibition was available to visit until 21st February 2020 on weekdays at the exhibition hall of the Faculty of Dentistry of Near East University during 08:00-16:00 hrs.
