Four separate solo exhibitions titled "Selfie" and consisting of 20 artworks Kazakh artists Galymzhan Suyunov, 'Melody of emotions' consisting of 20 artworks of Gülnazım Omirzak, 'Steppe sound' consisting of 20 artworks of Omirzak Rystan, and "Shadows of my childhood" consisting of 20 artworks of Kyrgyzstan artist Nurbek Mataev, in total 80 artworks exclusively made for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts were opened by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu.

According to the information provided by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of the Near East University, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Founding Rector of Near East University, Dr. Suat İ. Günsel, Özay Günsel Children's University Rector Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli, vice-rectors, directors of the institutes, deans, lecturers, artists and invitees attended to the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibitions, the Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Kazakh artists Gulnazim Omirzak, Omirzak Rystan, Galymzhan Suyunov and Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu made a speech.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ; “Supporting artists means investing in the future of societies”
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized that supporting artists means investing in the future of societies. “Great leaders support artists by doing special works in this field. Countries with strong artistic understanding and strong artists who can compete internationally also have the power to make their voices heard around the world. It is evident how much an internationally recognized artist and his international artistic activities have a promotional power.” Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ also identified the museum as a social engineering tool that contains traces of the past, instills certain values, etiquette and tastes, conducts research, collects, protects, shares information on materials related to people and their environment.

The number of works produced for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts has so far reached 25 THOUSANDS...
Reminding that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art will be opened on November 15, 2020, and in total 7 museums including the Car Museum, Herbarium and Natural History Museum, the National History Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Knife and Sword Museum and the Miniature Car Museum will meet art lovers. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said; “A new material is being added to these museums located on the Near East University campus every single day and the number of materials in our museums has exceeded 100 thousand as of now. As a result of the workshops organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the number of exhibitions opened in the exhibition halls of our University has reached 281 with the new exhibitions to be opened now. The number of the works in our museum has reached 25 thousand."

"Günsel Art Museum Honorary Award" took its place among the award categories...
Within the scope of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts project, artists who leave their marks are presented with Alasya Awards in five areas: painting, print painting, photography, sculpture and ceramics. The awards are given in memory of the inspiring Muslim and Turkish philosophers who changed the direction of the world with their inventions and lived in the 9th and 12th centuries; Ibn Heysem in photography, Fergani in painting, Hârizmî in painting, Ibn Tufeyl in sculpture and El-Biruni in ceramic. In addition, the Dogdurbek Prize is also given in memory of the late State Artist Dogdurbek Nurgaziev to the promising young artists within the scope of the Alasia awards. Today, a new category has been added to these “Günsel Art Museum Honor Award.”

Awards will be presented in three branches...

Galymzhan Suyunov; “I was able to convey my country's culture, traditions and history through art”
In his opening remarks, Galymzhan Suyunov started by saluting the protocol and the guests; “Dear Dr. Suat Günsel, with your support, I can convey the culture, traditions and history of my country through art and this is a great honor and happiness for me! In a short time, I had the opportunity to meet and work with talented artists from different countries. These days have been a source of inspiration and have left many beautiful, sunny and exciting memories. I am grateful to everyone who shares these glorious days with me.”

Omirzak Rystan; “Through art, brother and friend Turkish peoples united again”
Omirzak Rystan, on the other hand, underlined that they witnessed historical events: “Through art, brother and friend Turkish peoples are united again. I am proud to be a part of the Cyprus Modern Art Museum project and to open a solo exhibition in your country. I hope all your plans and wishes will come true."

Galymjan Suyunov; “It is a great pride for me to produce art in this holy land full of history”
Galymjan Suyunov; “Dear Dr. Suat Günsel, I would like to thank you for your sincere feelings, interest and support for all artists and for giving us the opportunity to work, create and leave a mark in contemporary art. It is a great pride for me to produce art in this holy land full of history and most importantly, to represent my homeland and people. I wish everyone success and prosperity.”

Dr.Faiz Sucuoğlu; “Turkish Cypriots are hungry for success, we witnessed this at the launch of Günsel”
Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu said in his opening remarks; “Today we are at a point where success stories intersect. Günsel electric car was launched recently and I have seen this. Turkish Cypriots are hungry for success, we witnessed that night, where thousands of people flowed like a river to witness the launch of Günsel. We have seen that there is interest, support, and most importantly longing where there is success. We already see this when we come to the Near East University campus. On the one hand, the construction of the biggest mosque of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is about to be completed, on the other hand, the University is now competing with the world, has proven itself with the publications made, on the other hand, there are giant steps about art and again, there are truly magnificent works of art here. I do not say painting anymore, I say artwork, and the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which will be opened in a short time, you will see that there will be a glorious opening that will attract intense attention of Turkish Cypriots. Because, as I said, we really long for success and where we have success, or rather, we are hungry, we were especially proud the night the Günsel electric car was launched. I would like to thank all the members of the Near East University, especially our Teacher, Suat Günsel, here at your presence. I have no doubt that that you will continue to write success stories that will make Turkish Cypriots happy again and make them forget about the troubles experienced on this tiny island.”

Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu presented “DOGDURBEK NURGAZİEV” Award to the Kazakh artist Gulnazim Omırzak; Günsel Art Museum Honorary Award was given to Galymzhan Suyunov and Omirzak Rystan for the first time, and the Silver Key Honor Award was given to Nurbek Mataev. The exhibition ribbons were then cut. The exhibitions can be visited between 08.00-16.00 on weekdays until 04 March 2020 at the exhibition hall of the Near East University Hospital.
