The administration of the museums established by the Günsel Family with the aim of adding a new dimension to the cultural and artistic life of the country was gathered under the Department of Museums. In line with the decision taken by the Günsel Family Council, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul was appointed as the Chairman of Museums Department and Görkem Bulunç was appointed as the Director of Museums.

Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, Cyprus Car Museum, Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, Walled City Museum at Kyrenia Gate and Günsel Art Museum in Dereboyu, which are affiliated to the Museums Department, aim to add value to the social and cultural development of the society in accordance with the mission of bringing continuity to the interest in art by providing a permanent contribution to the cultural and artistic accumulation of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Spirit of the City in the City Museum ...
The historical spirit of Nicosia is combined with art at the Walled City Museum, which was opened at the Kyrenia Gate last month. Many admirable works are exhibited together at the Walled City Museum, where artifacts from a different style and period are exhibited on each floor. In the inventory of the museum, toy car collection consisting of more than 3 thousand pieces, samples of swords and knives, over 70 sculptures, paintings, objects related to maritime history, examples of works from the Turkish Cypriot National History Museum, Karagöz copies, orders, Kadi records belonging to Nicosia, Ottoman artifacts such as rugs from the 17th century take place.

The Turkic World leaves its mark on Modern Art
The Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, established on the Near East University campus, has been hosting exhibitions by artists from different countries since the day it was opened. In the Museum, paintings consisting of acrylic, oil paint, spray paint, airbrush, mixed technique and drawing techniques, wood-wood carving, marble-ceramic sculpture, clay shaping, metal sculpture and handmade hunting knives are exhibited. Especially on the ceiling of the museum entrance, the acrylic handmade visual that depicts the historical and cultural details of the Turkic States attracts attention.

GÜNSEL and Art Together ...
Günsel Art Museum, established in the name of the domestic and national automobile of our country "GÜNSEL" and sharing the same place with the "GÜNSEL Promotion Office" in Dereboyu, offers oil and acrylic paintings, printmaking, engraving, linoleum, serigraphy, lithography, woodcut paintings, sculpture and ceramic artifacts.

Past and Present of Automobile
Cyprus Car Museum, the only classic automobile museum in the country, exhibits the development and history of the modern world through the transformation of automobiles with its rich collection. The oldest vehicle of the museum, where over 100 cars are exhibited, is the 1899 model Crest Mobile. In addition to this vehicle, which is the only one in the world, automobiles from every period of 100 years of history starting from the early 1900s to the 2000s take visitors into a timeline.

More than 20 thousand plants and living specimens...
The Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, where 11 thousand different plant specimens of 1500-1600 plant species such as fungi, insect species, various reptile species, sea creatures and materials related to Cyprus geology are also waiting for visitors.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, reminding that they continue to make important investments in the field of museums, said that they transformed art into an indispensable part of social life with the museums they founded. With the decision taken by the Günsel Family Council, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul was appointed as the Chairman of Museums Department and Görkem Bulunç was appointed as the Director of Museums. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel wished success to both names in their new duties.

Prof. Dr. Who is Ali Efdal Özkul?
He was born on June 20, 1972, in Famagusta. He graduated from Nicosia Turkish Maarif College (1990). He graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Literature, Department of History (1991-1995). As his graduation thesis, he carried out a study on Nicosia's 4th Sharia Registry (H. 1043-1046). He completed his master's degree at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same University with the thesis titled Sharia Court Registry No. 17 of Nicosia (H. 1157-1161 / 1744-1748) (1995-1998). He completed his doctoral dissertation titled Socio-Economic History of Cyprus Island (1726-1750) at Marmara University Turkic Studies Institute (1998-2002). He promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 2004, Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2014.

He has got many national and international articles and books published on the social, economic, educational, political, historical issues of the island of Cyprus. In addition to these, he has given In-Service Training Seminars to teachers under the Ministry of National Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and guides under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture at various times.

He still works as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Near East University, as well as the Director of the Ataturk's Principles and Revolution History Research Center and the Head of History Teaching and History Departments. He is also the Founding Chairman of the Board of the Cyprus Turkish National History Museum.

Who is Görkem Bulunç?
He graduated from Near East University, Computer Informatics department in 2008. He completed his master's degree in Human Resources and Management at Near East University in 2010. Since 2003, he has been in charge of the Near East University Computing Center, Faculty of Law Coordination, and conducted his duties as the General Coordinator, Promotion and Representation Chief Officer in Turkey. In 2018, he served as the Acting Director of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.
