The “Facts of Life” exhibition, consisting of 40 artworks, was opened by former ministers and journalist-writer İsmail Bozkurt at the Fine Arts Gallery of the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus

The solo exhibition of 40 artworks of Kazakh artist Orazbek Yesenbayev, titled "The Facts of Life", was opened by former ministers and journalist-writer İsmail Bozkurt at the Fine Arts Gallery of the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus. Yeniboğaziçi Mayor Mustafa Zurnacılar also attended the opening ceremony.

Bringing together 40 artworks of Kazakh painter Orazbek Yesenbayev's oil painting technique as part of the exhibitions held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the exhibition "The Facts of Life" will be open to visitors until 9 July.

At the opening ceremony held at Halil Günsel Culture and Art Center, Near East Enterprises Museums Department Director Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, Kazakh painter Orazbek Yesenbayev and former minister and journalist-writer İsmail Bozkurt also gave speeches. After the speeches, the opening ribbon was cut and the artworks were opened to visit of art lovers.


Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul: “As the Near East Enterprises, one of our most important missions is to bring art and museology together with the Turkish Cypriot community”
Director of Museums Department of Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul started his speech by expressing that they are very happy to bring the "Facts of Life" exhibition together with art lovers at the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Fine Arts Gallery.

Underlining that the Near East Enterprises is leading the way in preserving works of art, realizing high-level spatial designs, and creating particularly competent and high-profile museums, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said, “As the Near East Enterprises, one of our most important missions is to bring art and museology together with the Turkish Cypriot community”
Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul stated that they regard the libraries that the Near East Enterprises founded as a home of culture and said, "We are working to bring art and culture together with the society, by feeding on the core values of our society through the museums and libraries we have founded." Prof. Dr. Özkul said that they will add a third one in Yeniboğaziçi to the Grand Libraries in Nicosia and Kyrenia. Stating that the Yeniboğaziçi Library, of which book sequence continues, will be opened soon, Prof. Dr. Özkul said, “We will bring together the 30,000 books donated by İsmail Bozkurt, one of our country's important political and cultural figures, to the Yeniboğaziçi Library, in a special section to be created under his own name, with readers and researchers. I would like to thank Mr. Bozkurt for his valuable contribution.”


Orazbek Yesenbayev: “My artworks are my story. I chat with the audience through my artworks”
Kazakh artist Orazbek Yesenbayev, who spoke at the opening of his personal exhibition titled “The Facts of Life”, said, “My artworks are my story. I chat with the audience through my artworks. As an artist, it is a bit difficult to describe this in words. It is much easier for me to express my ideas in my paintings.”

Expressing his happiness at the opening of his fifth solo exhibition consisting of the artworks he prepared for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, Yesenbayev said, “I used different materials and techniques while preparing my works. These exhibitions gave us a great opportunity to express ourselves and have a new experience. I would like to thank Mr. Suat Günsel and his family for this opportunity they have provided me with.”


İsmail Bozkurt: “Introducing a modern art museum to the TRNC has been on the public agenda for 35-40 years. Unfortunately, it was not finalized. At this point, it is very valuable and admirable for our country that the Near East Enterprises quickly and decisively implemented the decision to establish a museum and established the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts”
Starting his speech with the words “I would like to thank Dr. Suat Günsel and the Near East Enterprises for inviting and honoring me to open such a valuable exhibition”, İsmail Bozkurt said, “As a Yeniboğaziçi citizen, I would like to express my thanks secondly for the schools, cultural center, exhibition halls, library brought to us by the Near East Enterprises.” İsmail Bozkurt, who donated his 30 thousand books to Yeniboğaziçi Grand Library, said, "It is a great pleasure for me to be able to contribute to this cultural nest that the Near East Enterprises has brought to Yeniboğaziçi."

Emphasizing the value that art adds to societies and humanity, Bozkurt said that art is a very important value that makes people happy, creates a social memory, and knows no boundaries and restrictions. Stating that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is not politically recognized, can overcome all restrictions and make its voice heard to the world through art, Bozkurt pointed out that artistic production and museology in the country has a great meaning. İsmail Bozkurt used the phrase, “Art cares neither for borders, mountains, nor oceans”.

İsmail Bozkurt, who was a member of the TRNC Constituent Assembly and also served as the Minister of Tourism and Culture in 1985, said, “As someone who has taken part in the study aiming to bring a modern art museum to the TRNC, I can say that this has been on the public agenda for 35-40 years. Unfortunately, it was not finalized.
