Following its great success at the GÜNSEL Art Museum, the “The Spirit of the Space” exhibition, featuring 50 works by 21 award-winning academic artists, is now carried out at the Kyrenia University Grand Library Exhibition Hall!

The group exhibition, “The Spirit of the Place”, showcasing 50 artworks by 21 award-winning academic artists, is now open to art lovers at the Kyrenia University Grand Library Exhibition Hall after its initial success at the GÜNSEL Art Museum. The exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge throughout May.

The exhibition, featuring works by academic artists from the Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and artists from the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, brings together 50 works in the fields of painting, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. “The Spirit of the Space” explores the multifaceted relationship between art and space through various disciplines, offering viewers a rich experience.

“The Spirit of the Space”, the 480th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, stands out as a powerful selection curated by Prof. Erdoğan Ergün, Director of the GÜNSEL Art Museum.

Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün: “As the space changes, the layers of meaning in the works are reshaped.”

Emphasizing that the exhibition has gained a different context in its new space, Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün pointed out that the interaction between art and space is a dynamic process. “Every exhibition is recreated in every new space it moves to. The works not only physically change location, they also gain new layers of meaning in conjunction with the architecture, atmosphere, and viewer profile of the space they are in.” said Prof. Ergün, adding that the “Spirit of the Space” exhibition will create a different perception and experience space at Kyrenia University.

Prof. Dr. Ergün also emphasized that the coming together of different disciplines increases the expressive power of art. Ergün said, “This exhibition offers a platform where academic production meets artistic creativity. We invite the viewer to reflect not only on the works themselves, but also on the new context offered by the space.”

Art lovers can visit the “Spirit of the Space” exhibition free of charge throughout May at the Kyrenia University Grand Library Exhibition Hall.
