The exhibitions “Anatolian Civilizations I” and “War Politics”, featuring artworks exclusively prepared for the Cyprus Modern Art Museum by Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu, will open its doors to art lovers on Thursday, August 13th at 4:00 PM in the GÜNSEL Art Museum Exhibition Hall, with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş.
The GÜNSEL Art Museum continues to host new exhibitions that bring together different periods and themes with the unique language of art. Two solo exhibitions by artist Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu, “Anatolian Civilizations I” and “War Politics”, featuring artworks exclusively prepared for the Cyprus Modern Art Museum, will be opened on Thursday, August 13th at 4:00 PM at the GÜNSEL Art Museum Exhibition Hall. The opening ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş.
Daloğlu’s solo exhibition, “Anatolian Civilizations I”, explores the historical and cultural heritage of Anatolia through the artist’s unique interpretation. Inspired by civilizations that left their mark on Anatolia, the artworks bring the region’s millennia-old heritage to the present day through the language of painting. In his drawing and oil painting exhibition, “War Politics”, the phenomenon of war and its effects on humanity are in the focus. Prof. Dr. Daloğlu, with his strong lines and distinctive painting style, depicts the relationship between conflict, humanity, and war to the viewer through different compositions. The works make visible that war is not only a historical and political issue; it also leaves deep marks on the individual and society.
These two exhibitions, the 484th and 485th exhibitions of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, can be visited free of charge until September 11th.
Who is Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu?
Born in Ankara in 1971, Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu began his art education in 1987, working alongside architect, painter, and sculptor Mükremin Mungan. During this period, he pursued studies and developed his skills in painting, Near Eastern mythology, and art history. In 1994, he graduated from the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University, studying with Prof. Dr. Zafer Gençaydın. After completing his undergraduate studies, Prof. Dr. Daloğlu went to the United States in 1998, where he studied Academic English and Short American Stories at Marymount College in New York.
During his time in New York, he conducted research on images of violence in painting and German Expressionist art at important art institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 2003, he completed his thesis titled “Artistic Proficiency: Images of Violence in Painting: Cultural Violence and Anti-Aesthetic Structure” at the Painting Department of the Social Sciences Institute at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu, who continues his artistic studies within the body of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, also continues his academic studies. Prof. Dr. Daloğlu currently serves as the Head of the Painting Department and Head of the Painting Division at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.
