Bekten Usubaliev was born in 1958 in the city of Frunze in Kyrgyzstan. He graduated from Frunze Art College in 1981. In 1989, he graduated from the Painting Department of the I.E. Repin Academy of Fine Arts (Petersburg, Russia). Between 1989 and 2014, he worked as a teacher at Kyrgyz State Art College.

He is a member of Kyrgyz Republic Artists Union. He participated in many national and international projects and exhibitions. The artist has received many awards from the Kyrgyz Republic.

He held 7 solo exhibitions in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Hungary. The artist’s works are exhibited at the Q. Aitiev National Museum of Fine Arts, Bishkek; at the museums of Kazakhstan and at private galleries and collections in Russia, Kazakhstan, UK, Australia, Italy, Spain, Japan, France, Norway, Turkey, the Netherlands, Korea, Switzerland, China, Germany, United States and Luxembourg.
