He graduated from Ankara Gazi Education Institute, Department of Painting in 1965. In 1977, he graduated from Berlin State Fine Arts High School with the title of High Meisterschüler. During the same period, the artist, who conducted studies on Video Art, made research and study tours on museums, galleries and art works in Federal Germany, France, Italy, Spain and East Germany. He returned to Turkey in 1978 and was appointed as a lecturer at Ankara Gazi Education Institute. During the years 1980-1981, he taught at METU Faculty of Architecture on ”Color in Architecture”. In 1982, he took the Contemporary Turkish Painting Exhibition to Kuwait on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Culture. In 1983, he took part as one of the founding staff of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts. In 1992, he participated in the 2nd European Fine Arts Faculties and High Schools Art Event in Barcelona. He worked as a dean for two terms at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Hacettepe University, and one term as a member of the Interuniversity Board (1995-1999). He presented papers titled “Overview of Turkish Painting” and ’Pioneering Art in Community Development” at the “3rd International World Culture Seminar” in Weimer where he was invited as Cultural Ambassador (1997). In 2002, he joined the Seoul and Inchon Cultural Activities as a delegation chair in South Korea. In 2003, he went to the Federal Republic of Germany as a guest of the Culture and Arts Program. In 2013, in Bucharest, Romania, he attended the the World Conference on Design, Arts and Education as the Guest of Honor of the Architecture and Urbanism University, Faculty of Architecture. He held 41 solo exhibitions, 19 awards and participated in many international exhibitions. His works take place in both national and foreign collections. He has published books, research articles, essays, reports and criticism on art and art education. Following his retirement, he has been giving lectures on Art, Art Education and Sociology of Art and continuing his art studies at his workshop.
