The ceramicist Vedia Okutan, faculty member at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University, is coming up with a solo exhibition consisting of 50 pieces of work. “EŞYANIN RUHU”, the solo exhibition called a Solid Wide Moment, will be opened by CTP leader Tufan Erhürman.

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the opening ceremony of Vedia Okutan’s solo exhibition will be held at the Exhibition Hall of Near East University Hospital at 11:00 on Friday 31 May, 2019.

In some of the works of the artist that will take part in the exhibition, the body of a human being and its skeleton that constitutes its basic roof are examined and the processes and stages in transforming them into artistic forms are examined. Through her precious ceramic works that illustrated human body, Vedia Okutan aims to reach diverse art enthusiasts. She is bringing her solo exhibition to the taste of art lovers in order to lift the veil of mystery regarding the human body, which had been the subject to art for centuries, and shed light to new design processes.

Vedia Okutan’s works that she has produced so far reflect her philosophy of life, her worldview and social awareness via an expression style specific to her. Her solo exhibition, which features pieces of precious ceramic works that reveal the physical and inner mystery of the human body, will be a good platform for the art enthusiast to witness her unique style of artistic expression.

Artistic Objects with Obsolete Units of Measurement…
Dimensions and volume of a ceramic work is of importance. Different measurement systems had been used in pottery and ceramic art dating as far back to Neolithic age. Within this frame, the exhibition also displays some obsolete units of measurement that used to form a ceramic/clay body into a specific object.
